HERITAGE SUNDAY JULY 16, 2000 - 141 YEARS! |
| The Worship service for Heritage Sunday, July 16, 2000 took on special significance for our congregation as it was Rev. Youngsook Kang's last service as Pastor at Golden First UMC! Youngsook had pastored our congregation since 1995. During Worship we recognized the six members of the congregation- Evie Hampton, Winnie Perry, Genevieve Mose, Annie Haldi, Mary Ann Kellogg, and Eva Pyle- who have been members at Golden First UMC since 1940 or before [click]. |

| Our Heritage Commission also created a listing of the 61 people who have been members of our congregation since 1960 or before [click]. Portions of the stories of a few of these longtime Golden First UMC members are told here [click]. The Heritage Commission also built a wonderful display of historical photos and documents which was placed in our Parlor and Narthex for all church members and guests to view! A special 'thank-you' goes to Bob and Virginia Gidley and Dick Grauer for their work! Afterwards, a 'Farewell Luncheon' was held for Youngsook in Fellowship Hall [click]. | |
