| Right: The front cover of the Sunday Worship bulletin for Golden First Methodist Church's Centennial Year Celebration! The Denver Area Bishop- the Rev. Glenn R. Phillips- was the keynote speaker for the Centennial Celebration at Golden's First Methodist Church on July 26, 1959! That day marked not only 100 years for Golden's Methodist Church but also 100 years for Methodism in Colorado! Bishop Phillips, head of the Methodist Church for an area encompassing all of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Nevada, delivered the sermon at both the 9:30 and 11:00 am Worship services. Phillips' message was entitled "Help and Hope!" It was based on scripture from Psalm 118. Assisting in the Worship services was the Rev. T. Bruce McDivitt, Denver Area District Superintendant! The Pastor at Golden First Methodist at the time of our Centennial Celebration was the Rev. J. Frank Holmes. Holmes was in his first of three years of service as minister to Golden Methodists! |
