First UMC: Loving Christians- Growing in Spirit, Acting in Faith!
DEDICATION SUNDAYS

Dedication Sundays are special celebrations devoted to those occasional
times when we get to dedicate a new church facility!

Golden's first brick-and-mortar Methodist Epis-
copal Church was built in 1869 at the corner
of 14th Street and Washington Avenue.

Our second church building was built
in 1903 at the same location. The
Education Building, built in 1954, was
a major addition to this church facility.

Golden's First Methodist Church quickly outgrew its sanctuary at 14th and Washington, however.
In 1962 the Golden Methodist Church moved to its current facility at 15th Street and Ford Avenue.

Please take a moment to examine some of our Dedication Sunday celebrations:

  • Peace Poles October 23, 1994 and January 30, 2000
Golden First UMC has dedicated two Peace Poles!
  • Washington Avenue Church July 26, 1903
Bishop Rev. Henry White Warren, D.D., and Rev. William D. Phifer, D.D., were special guests at the dedication of our new church facility at 14th Street and Washington Avenue!
