ROCKY MOUNTAIN ARTS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS
QUIET NO MORE: A CHORAL CELEBRATION OF STONEWALL
(Denver, CO) March 27, 2019 — The combined choruses of Rocky Mountain Arts Association, The Denver
Gay Men’s Chorus and The Denver Women’s Chorus, are thrilled to present the Rocky Mountain regional
premiere of “Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall” to launch World Pride 2019 and to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York City. Joint performances by
the 250 voices of the two ensembles are scheduled throughout the greater Denver metropolitan area on
May 18th at First United Methodist Church of Golden; June 1st at the Broomfield Auditorium; and June
7th-8th at the King Center Concert Hall on the Auraria Higher Education Center in downtown Denver.
The product of a multi-year project to commemorate the seminal event in LGBT history which gave rise to
the gay civil rights movement in the United States, “Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall”
honors the vast legacy and worldwide change that resulted from six days in June, 1969 in the West Village
of New York City. The large choral work for treble and bass voices, narrators and chamber orchestra,
consists of eight movements by six distinguished choral composers which tell complex stories of LGBTQ
life in the 1960s; the events leading up to the riots at the Stonewall Inn; and the ripple effects worldwide
that resulted from the brave actions of protesters who were no longer willing to accept the way things
were. In an homage to local gay rights activists, the performances by The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and
The Denver Women’s Chorus also will include narrations highlighting the GLBT leaders and noteworthy
events that fostered the growth of the gay rights movement in Denver and the Rocky Mountain Region.
The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and The Denver Women’s Chorus are proud to be two of twenty-two Gay
and Lesbian co-commissioning choruses throughout the United States that will simultaneously premiere
“Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall” to mark this milestone in gay rights history and to
launch World Pride 2019! Denver area performances are scheduled:
